Update on the coaching and previous independent league playing career of Don Blaylock: https://sluggersfw.com/index.php/lessons
From an archive of the old Texas Heat website (click here), the site had two stories about players who went to higher-level independent leagues that season:
Texas Heat closer Brandon Pello was traded to the Quebec Capitales in the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball (Can-Am) on July 4, 2007. Pello joined the Heat from Quebec for a player to be named later.
Pello had established himself as the Heat’s closer with All-Star caliber performances.Player ERA W-L APP GS CG SHO/CBO SV IP H R ER BB SO 2B 3B HR AB B/Avg WP HBP BK SFA SHA

Pello helped the Heat and Holder to first place a top the Continental Baseball League standings before being traded to Quebec.
“I think this trade goes to show the caliber of player we’re capable of attracting to our league” said Heat General Manager, Rob Gardenhire.
Gardenhire went on to add, “Attracting players with Brandon’s talent and promoting them to larger and more competitive leagues is what we’re all about. The Continental Baseball league exists to play competitive professional baseball and help players reach higher levels of competition. We’re excited for Brandon and wish him nothing but the best.”
Pello has recorded one win in 3 appearances through 3 innings of work with 3 strikeouts for the 3rd place Capitales.

Short stop Billie Hicks and relief pitcher Matt Grenead have both been released by the Texas Heat to join the San Angelo Colts in the United Baseball League.
“We’re excited that both these players will have the chance to be exposed to a larger stage and hopefully move on to affiliated ball.” stated Heat General Manager Rob Gardenhire
Gardenhire added, “The Continental Baseball League has been able to develop and showcase outstanding talent this year and these two moves are a testament to the great team Royce Holder, our Manager, has assembled.
Hicks joined the Colts on Sunday, August 5 going 2 for 5 with a triple, a double and 1 RBI while Grenead has been with the team since mid July and has three appearances of relief work.
